Count Your Blessings

 Count Your Blessings!

"Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise His holy name." Psalm 103:1

The above Scripture is a declaration David made concerning his commitment to wholeheartedly praise the Lord. He goes on to say, "Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things He does for me."

With the press and stress of everyday life, it can be challenging to continually remember, as well as keep our attention on, the good things the Lord does for us and/or to wholeheartedly praise His name.

A fun tool I began using some weeks ago is a hand-held tally counter (pictured above, available on to recount the Lord's goodness to me. With a target of 50-100, I have used the counter to tally the following throughout my day:

1.  Scriptures quoted from memory.

2.  Bible promises recounted.

3.  Declarations of His Word over my life.

4.  Recounting and giving thanks for blessings.

5.  Listing as many names of the Lord God as I can from memory.

6.  Each sentence prayer lifted up throughout the day for others as well as myself.

Besides being a wonderful way to start the day, it helps me keep my focus on the Lord. In addition, it encourages an attitude of gratitude.

Why not see how many blessings you can give thanks to the Lord for today? You might start with the blessings David listed in
Psalm 103:3-5.

"He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.
"He redeems me  from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies.
"He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle's!"

Be blessed ..... and happy counting!
